Perspective and Composition in Architectural Photography

Updated: Apr 25

The best starting point of the Boston Building Spree is the start of the Central Artery / Tunnel Project, otherwise known as the Big Dig. Putting the massive, elevated roadway underground, and solving the interchange between Routes 95 and 93 lead the way to massive expansion in Boston and the area.

The Project started in September of 1991 and was substantially complete on January 13, 2006.  Most don’t realize the Seaport was a couple of restaurants and a huge parking lot. The lot was a great deal at $5.00 per day, imagine?

Buildings make great subject whether they are historic or newly constructed.  Equally interesting is the construction project itself and the building processes.  In addition to making great photos, construction projects are exciting to manage and watch where the team is building something out of an idea.  The idea becomes a concept.  The concept becomes a rendering.  And the rendering becomes a plan set. Once all the sign-offs are done, engineers, clients and the local building inspectors and planning boards; we have a project.

In addition to buildings and historic landmarks, construction projects are part of my Cityscape Portfolio.  Boston is a great area for Cityscapes due to the construction activity and its architectural history. In it's day the Prudential Center, with its all glass exterior, was a far out design. Visit the Piacere Website to see more Landscape, Travel and Cityscape Photography.
